We do have occasional litters but only when absolutely necessary to continue our bloodline. We have also been involved in a number of litters with either friends or family and we have gained vast experience on certain lines of Bull Terriers, with regard to their temperaments and health issues. This is where we use our knowledge to continue producing Bull Terriers of Quality not Quantity. Our blood line can be traced back to our first dog Mountain Lord of Draydur and many great Kilacabar, Ghabar & Brobar dogs to mention but a few. We believe that litters should not be bred for the sake, or purely to get the perfect show dog, although you should always aim to better the breed. As you can see from the pictures on this web site our Bull Terriers are of an excellent standard, but our main aim is to ensure that they have excellent temperaments and there is suitable owners waiting for a Draydur Bull Terrier puppy. We are very careful when choosing the stud dogs to ensure that they also have impeccable temperaments. All stud dogs we use are heart and kidney tested clear before we will consider using them. All our breeding stock are heart and kidney tested.
Our first and closely followed second Bull Terriers. Taz and Pebbles had totally different personalities. Taz our first dog was so laid back, he took everything in his stride, nothing fazed him. Pebbles on the other hand was fondly refered to as our problem child, she was into everything, and you can clearly see the difference by viewing our Gallery page. Pebs took a lot of our time and patience but with dedication and forgiveness, eventually we had a happy home. Pebbles was from a different line of Bull Terriers, of which personally, we think is more highly strung. We tried in vain to fuse the two types together, to enable us to better pebbles temperament. Unfortunately this never happened. Taz and Pebbles spent nine happy years together.
Our foundation bitch, Bramble. She is seen here with her first and only litter, out of our own dog Taz. Taz and Bramble complemented each other very well, in both type as well as pedigree's. Bramble set the bench mark for all our breeding bitches to try and emulate, she was an exellent, gentle, giving and most caring mother. Draydur Bull Terrier puppies always have lots of human contact and hands on affection from the moment they are born.
As a result of the above mating, we were very pleased with the outcome. We finally produced our first homebred bitches. Bracken and Kera were litter sisters. Kera who was also an exellent mother produced our next two Draydur bitches. Gypsy and Nala, who you can see with their litter mates.
We decided to mate Gypsy and Nala to Champion Kilacabar Cool Baracuda, pet name Remus. This line has a consistent line of Champion stud dogs going back many decades.Gypsy and Nala were equally as good at motherhood as their mother and grand mother before them, their puppies were born four days apart and all thirteen puppies and both mothers were inseperable throughout welping. You can see Gypsy with all eight of her puppies, she was trying to catch a rest in the sun. No chance.
Do not try this at home. Trust us, trying to raise thirteen puppies at one time is no mean feat. After a lot of sleepless nights we managed to raise all thirteen pups. Out of both litters, we kept our latest additions to the Draydur clan. From Nala's five we kept Daphnee and Scooby. From Gypsy's eight we chose Sam to which we own in partnership with Steve and Clare. Sam resides in Wales.
Spud (Shaggy) is from the same litter as Daphnee and Scooby (Mackenzie our daughter is responsible for the names), he started his new life on a working farm. Spud quickly fitted into life on the farm and had an exellent relationship with all the different animals. Cinders is a red bitch that we bought in to try and regain our coloured line. Unfortunately (for the line only) she only ever gave birth to one puppy. Fortunately (for us) the one puppy became the handsome Bagheera. When we do have a planned litter we are exeptionally careful and pride ourselves when picking new homes for all new Draydur Bull Terrier puppies. We will always ask you as many personel questions as possible with regard to your family, lifestyle and enviroment, to ensure that you are suitable Bull Terrier owners. Therefore, please do not be offended if we decide that selling you a puppy would not be appropriate, this will be nothing personal. We only wish to ensure that our puppies go to the most suitable homes and we will take into consideration the ages of any children and your experience with pets etc. Hopefully by taking this approach, the breed we love, will go from strength to strength and will be around forever. We are members of the Kennel Club Accredited Breeder Scheme.
